WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Starfangled Press is an artist-run Printmaking studio and gallery. We pride ourselves on presenting high-quality affordable art and goods that are (mostly) hand-printed by independent artists. In our year-round storefront, we represent a growing list of exceptional artists working with woodcut, etching, screenprint, lithography, and letterpress. 
That said, we embrace an expanded definition of Printmaking, so if you feel like you are a great fit for our Market, don’t be afraid to apply if your work falls somewhat outside the traditional bounds of “Printmaking”.
We are looking for several Print, or Print-related, artists to join us in our third annual Winter Art Market where the regular storefront area will expand to take over our gallery space. 
Here we will create a beautifully curated selection of original art and gifts for the many holiday shoppers that have made Starfangled Press part of their annual tradition and rely on us for unique gifts and paper goods. 

SET UP

There are no booths! Accepted artists will drop off your inventory with the required documentation at Starfangled Press. We will take care of the rest by transforming our gallery space into a curated extension of our storefront area for the duration of the Winter Art Market.
While all Artists are encouraged to attend the opening reception, Artists do NOT have to be at the Winter Art Market! Our team will style and staff the Market handling all sales and sales tax for the artists. 
Accepted artists drop off their work: Monday, 18 November 2019 | 10-6 pm
Opening Reception: Friday, 22 November 2019  | 5-8 pm
Artists will pick up any remaining work: Monday, 3 February 2019 | 10-6 pm
Not local? Artists can arrange to ship their work to us on or before the drop-off date. If interested in this option, artists will assume all postage charges to/from Starfangled Press

INVENTORY

All products must be marked with your Vendor Name and Price. All artists must supply Starfangled Press with a simple inventory spreadsheet to help us input your information in our Point of Sale system. Templates and directions for this spreadsheet will be emailed upon acceptance. 

COMMISSION

There is no fee to apply or to participate in the Starfangled Press Winter Art Market. Starfangled Press offers a 40/60 commission structure to all of our artists.
For any and all sales:
  • Starfangled Press will sell the Artworks only at the Retail Price specified on the Inventory Sheet by the Artist. 
  • The Artist will receive 60% of the Retail Price of the Artwork.
  • The Starfangled Press Commission will be 40% of the Retail Price of the Artwork
  • Starfangled Press will be responsible to collect and remit the sales tax for all consignment sales.
  

ACCEPTANCE 

Accepted artists will be notified on Friday, 18 October 2019

 

PAYMENT

All artists will receive two monthly payments via a check along with a simple sales summary of items sold. Checks will be mailed on or before the 15th of January for all November + December 2019 Gallery Sales and on or before the 15th of February 2020 for all January 2020 Gallery Sales.
All sales tax will be collected and remitted by Starfangled Press. 
Checks will be mailed to the address included in your application.  
 

ADVERTISEMENT

We will be using social media (Instagram, Website, and Facebook) to market the event and feature the accepted artists. Please make sure you send high-quality photos when you apply, so that we may use these for advertising.

 

THEFT & LIABILITY

We will do everything within our power to prevent theft of products and displays, but we cannot guarantee that items will not go missing or get broken. Although inventory lists are supplied by the artists, we do not verify whether the numbers, descriptions, and/or prices match the physical inventory dropped off. Starfangled Press will make every effort to prevent any incidents. However, we cannot be held responsible if theft or damage does occur.
