Artist Statement

I am fascinated by our relationship to animals and animal cognition in general, and am in love with animal forms. I share my life with two dogs, one looks like a wolf, and the other a fox, so they often become my muses and stand-ins for their wild ancestors.  I also love deer and antelope; they are very feminine creatures because of their graceful movements and large eyes. I look at the animal's history with symbol and combine it with my own personal narrative. Often times, by using animals, I can tell universal stories which weave anthropology, art history, and spirituality - our shared humanness - better than their human counterparts.
