TALKIN' FOOLISH | Sage Perrott aka Haypeep

Talkin’ Foolish

Sage Perrott

26 July 2019 - 19 August 2019

OPENING RECEPTION Friday, 26 July 2019, 5 - 8 pm

Sage Perrott, aka Haypeep, is a printmaker and educator originally from West Virginia. Her artwork features grumpy, lumpy, ghost-like creatures situated in cramped, often humorous circumstances. Perrott’s preferred process is screenprinting. She has degrees in printmaking from West Virginia University (BFA) and from Ohio University (MFA). She is currently teaching as an Assistant Professor at East Tennessee State University. Her prints, drawings, and zines have found their way into the hands of folks all over the United States and the world.

Talkin' Foolish is a show of simple, but bold screenprints. Each print features a unique talk bubble friend, which is a reference to comics and to the symbol(s) we all recognize as speech/whisper/thought/scream within those comics. Inside the talk bubble friends is another set of symbols and buddies, whose interactions begin to tell a loose, interpretable narrative.
