Artist Statement

Holly Fouts is a full-time studio artist and teacher living in Asheville, NC. She works with natural, locally sourced botanical materials to celebrate the beauty of our surroundings. Her eco dyed papers are created with organic botanicals, found elements, natural dyes and a damp heat process that transfer the plant dyes to paper. Holly is fascinated with the resulting unpredictable graphic transformation of nature to paper as well as the documentation of the environment throughout the seasons. Her work magnifies and abstracts the essence of nature providing personal meaning and context in the transformation.  Each print is unique, with its own natural language.
